Bizas Winery & Distillery

Bizas Winery and Distillery is a recent dynamic investment in the wine and spirit area, but with a long history behind it. It is the personal story of its founder, Dimitris Bizas, who, as an agriculturalist for many years, loved the land and decided to offer the public quality products from its cultivation. For this purpose, utilizing knowledge and experience and guided by his vision, he created a modern and well-organized unit for the production of wine and tsipouro in Anthotopos, Arta in 2022. It is a tribute to his family’s tradition, as he watched his father handle the stills and distill grapes from the region to produce tsipouro, which he consumed with his family and friends. It is the love for the products of the land that made him choose the agriculture science for studies, in order to contribute to the labor of the producers of his region to improve their crops, which he has been doing for many years. It is a “spirit of life” that encapsulates the philosophy of Bizas Winery and Distillery for products with love for the land, respect for tradition, but also scientific care.

OUR VINEYARD

Our privately owned vineyard and their standard cultivation method supports our organized winery and distillery with excellent raw material. All together form a single system that ensures the production of high quality products. The vineyard, in which Rhoditis and Merlot are grown, covers an area of 10 acres, while the planting of another 15 acres is planned soon.

The knowledge and scientific experience of our founder has given particular dynamics to the cultivation methods used, thanks to which, the excellent raw material for the production of our products is ensured. Beyond that, however, we have chosen winegrowers from the most well-known wine-producing zones from which we source grapes of excellent quality according to strict criteria, always ensuring the excellent quality of our products.

THE WINERY

The privately owned winery occupies an area of 500 m2 in Anthotopos, Arta and is one of the most organized units in the area, since it is made up of the most modern building and technological facilities, but also of the most sophisticated processes related to production, maintenance, bottling and the proper handling of the products. Through the scientific laboratory that controls with absolute precision the quality of production at all its stages, special emphasis is placed on the hygiene of the products. With an eye on the future and a vision for future expansion, the winery has the capacity to produce 70,000 bottles per year.

THE DISTILLERY

The distillery occupies a separate and legally independent space within our premises. Fermentation tanks of the raw material, which highlight its quality characteristics, as well as high-tech stills ensure the excellent quality of our products. The temperature and humidity conditions of the space that remain constant, as well as the experience and expertise of our team that makes the most of its capabilities contribute to this, so that we receive a superior quality tsipouro. For the preparation of our spirits, we use the grapevines from the varieties we grow in our vineyard, controlling the quality of the production at all stages.
